Grade 4
Welcome to Fourth Grade!
Fourth grade is an exciting year of growth, exploration, and increased independence. Students build on the skills they have developed in previous grades while tackling new challenges, making connections across subjects, and developing the confidence and responsibility they need as learners.
English Language Arts
Students will strengthen their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills as they explore a variety of texts and topics. They will build vocabulary, deepen comprehension, analyze characters and ideas, and develop organized, evidence-based writing.
Mathematics
Fourth graders will develop a deeper understanding of multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, geometry, and measurement. Students will apply their mathematical thinking to solve multi-step problems and explain their strategies.
Science
Students will explore important scientific concepts through hands-on investigations, discussion, observation, and problem-solving. They will develop their ability to ask questions, use evidence, and explain how and why things happen in the world around them.
Social Studies
Students will learn about important events, people, places, and ideas that have shaped our state, country, and world. They will develop an understanding of history, geography, government, economics, and the perspectives of people throughout time.
Learning & Independence
Throughout the year, students will continue developing organization, collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills. Fourth grade is an important year for students to take greater ownership of their learning and become confident, responsible members of our school community.
